Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen

A flight arriving on Day 1 would require adjustments to sightseeing and departure time. Depending on the schedule, a brief exterior stop around the Hassan II Mosque may be possible. A full Casablanca visit or an interior mosque tour is best arranged before the itinerary begins, allowing enough time for the onward journey.

Selected Sightseeing in Rabat

We continue to Rabat, where we focus on a limited selection of landmarks. Possible stops include the Hassan Tower area or the Kasbah of the Udayas, subject to timing and access. We agree on the preferred visits in advance rather than attempting a complete city tour during this travel day. After a lunch break, we continue toward northern Morocco.

Arrival in Chefchaouen

The journey leads toward the mountain setting of Chefchaouen, where we spend our first night. Depending on arrival time, we may enjoy a short walk near the accommodation or leave the main exploration for the following morning. The town’s sloping lanes and blue-painted buildings provide a distinctive introduction to northern Morocco.

Day 2: Chefchaouen – Fes

A Morning in Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we explore Chefchaouen’s medina, allowing time to walk through its narrow streets, small squares, and quieter residential lanes. The morning offers opportunities for photography and a relaxed introduction to the town. We respect residents’ privacy and avoid entering private doorways or photographing people without permission. The streets include slopes and steps, so comfortable footwear is useful.

Traveling toward Fes

Following our visit, we leave Chefchaouen and travel toward Fes, with practical breaks along the route. We keep the journey focused rather than adding lengthy detours, allowing time to settle into our accommodation on arrival. For riads inside pedestrian sections of the medina, we confirm the nearest accessible vehicle drop-off point and the remaining arrival arrangements. We spend the first of two nights in Fes.

Day 3: Guided Discovery of Fes

Exploring the Historic Medina

After breakfast, we arrange a guided introduction to Fes, focusing on its historic streets, traditional architecture, and craft districts. Our walking route connects neighborhood markets, workshops, and selected landmarks. The guide provides context for the places we visit and their role in the city’s daily life. The tour involves narrow lanes, uneven surfaces, and considerable walking. We adapt the pace and selected stops to your interests and mobility requirements.

Architecture and Traditional Craftsmanship

Our itinerary may include a historic madrasa and streets associated with traditional trades, subject to opening arrangements. We appreciate carved wood, plaster decoration, tilework, and courtyard design. A tannery viewpoint may be included if desired, with purchases remaining optional. At religious buildings with restricted entry, we appreciate permitted exterior views and the surrounding streets.

Free Time in Fes

After the main guided visit, the remaining time can be used for relaxation or independent exploration. We spend our second night in Fes. Preparing a small overnight bag this evening makes the following day’s desert arrival easier.

Day 4: Fes – Middle Atlas – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Early Departure toward the Mountains

We leave Fes early and travel toward the Middle Atlas Mountains. This is one of the longest driving days of the tour. We keep sightseeing stops selective so that we can reach Merzouga with sufficient time for the arranged desert experience. A short stop in Ifrane may be included before continuing through mountain and woodland landscapes.

Cedar Woodland and Midelt

Where timing and access permit, we stop near cedar woodland along the route. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. If animals are present, we observe them from a respectful distance without feeding or approaching them. We continue toward Midelt, with lunch planned according to our progress. Practical breaks allow time to stretch before traveling farther south.

Views of the Ziz Valley

Traveling through the Errachidia region and Ziz Valley, we encounter palm groves and cultivated land beneath dry, rocky slopes. A viewpoint stop may be included where suitable. We then continue through the Erfoud region toward Merzouga, where the dunes appear beyond the open plains.

Camel Excursion and Desert Camp Overnight

On arrival, we prepare for the arranged camel excursion near Merzouga and confirm luggage handling. The excursion offers a slower introduction to the Erg Chebbi dunes, with time to appreciate their curved ridgelines and changing shadows. When arrival time and conditions permit, we schedule it around late-afternoon light. Sunset timing cannot be guaranteed after the long drive. Travelers who prefer not to ride a camel can discuss an alternative vehicle transfer before booking. At camp, we settle into our tents and enjoy dinner. Some properties offer music in a communal gathering area, while clear skies may provide opportunities for stargazing.

Day 5: Explore Merzouga and the Surrounding Desert

Morning around the Dunes

Travelers who wish to rise early can enjoy the morning light around camp before breakfast. After the arranged departure from camp, we begin the local experiences specified in your itinerary. This additional day gives us time to discover the Merzouga region beyond the overnight stay.

A Local Desert Excursion

A prearranged 4×4 excursion around Merzouga can introduce rocky plains, small settlements, and open landscapes surrounding Erg Chebbi. We confirm the vehicle, duration, route, and included visits before departure. Weather, access, and ground conditions may require adjustments. Any visits involving local households take place only where hosts welcome guests. We respect their privacy and ask permission before taking photographs.

Khamlia and Optional Activities

A visit to Khamlia may be included to discover the village’s musical traditions. Where a performance is arranged, we clarify whether the contribution is included or payable separately. The afternoon can include relaxation or optional activities such as quad biking, buggy driving, or sandboarding. These require separate confirmation and may involve additional charges. We spend the night at a hotel or riad in the Merzouga area. A second camp overnight can be discussed as an alternative.

Day 6: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Journey toward Tinghir

After breakfast, we leave Merzouga and travel west toward Tinghir and the Todra Valley. The drive passes through open terrain and settlements, with lunch planned along the route. Approaching Tinghir, palm groves and cultivated areas contrast with the surrounding dry hills.

Walking in Todra Gorge

At Todra Gorge, steep rock walls rise above the valley floor. We stop for a short walk in an accessible section, allowing time to appreciate the cliffs and take photographs. The standard visit is sightseeing rather than an extended hike. Longer walking routes or climbing activities require additional time and separate arrangements.

Overnight in the Dades Valley Area

We continue toward the Dades Valley region, where we spend the night. Depending on arrival time and our accommodation’s location, a nearby viewpoint or short walk may be included before we settle in. Dinner is provided according to the selected package.

Day 7: Dades Valley – Aït Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

After breakfast, we travel through the landscapes around the Valley of Roses and Skoura. Villages, cultivated areas, and palm groves create a changing backdrop. The appearance of the Valley of Roses varies with the season; flowers are not in bloom throughout the year. We continue through Ouarzazate, keeping additional stops selective because the day also includes Aït Ben Haddou and the mountain crossing.

Exploring Aït Ben Haddou

At Aït Ben Haddou, we explore the fortified settlement and its traditional earthen architecture. Passages lead between houses, towers, and defensive walls. Higher sections offer views across the settlement and surrounding landscape. The visit involves uneven paths and steps. Comfortable shoes are useful, and a shorter walking route can be discussed if needed.

Crossing the High Atlas Mountains

After a lunch stop, we continue toward Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains, following the road via Tizi n’Tichka. Mountain valleys and hillside settlements provide the scenery for the final driving stage. We include suitable breaks when conditions and time permit. We arrive in Marrakech in the evening and settle into our accommodation for two nights.

Day 8: Guided Exploration of Marrakech

Historic Monuments and Medina Streets

After breakfast, we arrange a guided introduction to Marrakech. The route may include Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa, or the Saadian Tombs, according to your interests and opening arrangements. We confirm the selected visits and admission costs beforehand. We also explore the surroundings of the Koutoubia Mosque, appreciating its exterior and its place in the city skyline.

Discovering the Souks

We continue through sections of the Marrakech souks, where shops and workshops display textiles, ceramics, leather goods, and metalwork. Shopping remains optional. We allow time to appreciate the craftsmanship and daily activity of the medina. Our route also introduces the surroundings of Jemaa el-Fnaa.

A Flexible Afternoon

The afternoon can remain free for relaxation or additional exploration. An optional garden visit or another activity can be arranged in advance, subject to availability. We spend our final night in Marrakech.

Day 9: Marrakech and Departure

Free Time According to Your Schedule

Our final day is arranged around your departure time. Travelers leaving later may enjoy a relaxed breakfast, a short walk, or time at their accommodation. We keep any additional activity close enough to allow a comfortable transfer.

Departure Transfer

We finish with the departure transfer specified in your booking. This itinerary ends in Marrakech. If your return flight leaves from Casablanca, we must arrange a separate intercity transfer and review the timing before confirming the program.
