Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech

We begin our 7 days Morocco itinerary from Marrakech with an arrival transfer arranged according to your flight schedule. We take you to your accommodation or the nearest accessible vehicle drop-off point if you are staying inside the medina. The first day remains flexible. After a flight, time to settle in often makes a better introduction than a crowded sightseeing schedule. Depending on arrival time, you can relax at your riad or take a short walk through the surrounding neighborhood.

An Introduction to Marrakech

For travelers arriving early, the afternoon offers an opportunity to become familiar with the city. The medina’s lanes reveal small shops, traditional doorways, courtyards, and everyday neighborhood life. Later, you may choose to explore the surroundings of Jemaa el-Fnaa, where the atmosphere changes throughout the day and evening. We keep any first-day activities appropriate to your arrival time and energy level. Overnight accommodation is in Marrakech.

Day 2: Explore Marrakech’s Medina, Palaces, and Souks

Guided Discovery of Historic Marrakech

After breakfast, we arrange a guided introduction to Marrakech, with visits selected according to your interests and the opening arrangements for individual attractions. The day may include Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, or Ben Youssef Madrasa. We confirm the chosen route and any admission costs before the visit. Rather than attempting every major attraction, we allow time to appreciate the architecture and understand the places we explore.

Walking through the Souks

We continue through sections of the Marrakech souks, where workshops and shops display textiles, ceramics, leather goods, metalwork, and other crafts. A guided walk helps connect these streets with the wider layout and history of the medina. Shopping remains optional, and we can adjust the time spent in the markets to your preferences. We also explore the surroundings of the Koutoubia Mosque, appreciating its exterior and place in the city skyline.

A Flexible Afternoon

After a lunch break, the afternoon can remain free or include another prearranged visit. Travelers interested in gardens may choose an optional visit to Jardin Majorelle, subject to ticket availability and advance arrangements. Others may prefer a relaxed afternoon at their accommodation. We spend our second night in Marrakech, ready for an early departure the following morning.

Day 3: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Aït Ben Haddou – Dades Valley

Crossing the High Atlas Mountains

We leave Marrakech early and travel toward the High Atlas Mountains. As the road climbs, urban surroundings give way to foothills, valleys, and hillside settlements. Our route crosses the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with stops at suitable viewpoints when road and weather conditions permit. The winding drive introduces some of the journey’s most expansive mountain scenery. We include practical breaks for refreshments and time to stretch.

Exploring Aït Ben Haddou

After crossing the mountains, we continue to Aït Ben Haddou, a fortified settlement known for its earthen houses, walls, and towers. We allow time to explore on foot, following passages between traditional buildings. Higher sections offer views across the village and surrounding landscape. Paths can be uneven and include steps. Comfortable footwear is helpful, and we can discuss a shorter walking route if needed. Lunch is planned along the way, according to our progress.

Continuing toward the Dades Valley

We travel through Ouarzazate and continue toward the landscapes around Skoura and the Valley of Roses. Because this is a substantial driving day, we keep additional stops selective. More detailed sightseeing in Ouarzazate can be considered during our return. By evening, we reach our accommodation in the Dades Valley area, where we settle in for the night.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga Desert

Journey toward Tinghir

After breakfast, we continue toward Tinghir and the Todra Valley. Palm groves and traditional settlements contrast with the dry, rocky terrain around them. Depending on timing, we stop at an appropriate viewpoint before entering the gorge.

Walking in Todra Gorge

At Todra Gorge, steep cliffs rise above the valley floor. We stop for a short walk in an accessible section, allowing time to appreciate the rock walls and take photographs. This is a sightseeing visit rather than an extended hike. Longer walking routes or climbing activities require separate planning.

Arrival in Merzouga

We continue toward Merzouga, stopping for lunch along the route. Traveling through the Erfoud region, we see the landscape become increasingly open. The Erg Chebbi dunes appear beyond the plains as we approach the Merzouga area. On arrival, we prepare for the arranged desert excursion and confirm luggage handling.

Camel Excursion and Desert Camp Overnight

Our camel excursion in Merzouga offers a slower way to experience the dunes and their changing ridgelines. Where arrival time and conditions permit, we schedule the excursion around late-afternoon light. Sunset views depend on the weather. Travelers who prefer not to ride a camel can discuss an alternative vehicle transfer before booking. At camp, we settle into our tents and enjoy dinner. Some properties offer music in a communal gathering area, while clear skies may provide opportunities for stargazing. The selected camp’s facilities and evening arrangements are confirmed in advance.

Day 5: Explore Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi Region

Morning in the Desert

Travelers who wish to rise early can enjoy the morning light around the camp before breakfast. With another day in the Merzouga region, we have time to explore beyond the overnight experience. After the arranged departure from camp, we begin the local activities specified in your itinerary.

A Local Excursion around the Dunes

A prearranged 4×4 excursion around the Merzouga region can introduce rocky plains, small settlements, and open desert landscapes. The wider area offers a different perspective from the dunes themselves. We confirm the route, duration, vehicle, and included stops before travel, with adjustments made where access or ground conditions require them. Any visit involving local households takes place only where hosts welcome guests. We respect residents’ privacy and ask permission before photography.

Discovering Khamlia’s Musical Traditions

A visit to Khamlia may be included to discover the village’s musical traditions. If a performance is arranged, we allow time to listen and appreciate its local context. We clarify whether the visit and any contribution are included in the quotation or payable separately.

Optional Activities or Time to Rest

The afternoon can include relaxation or optional activities such as quad biking, buggy driving, or sandboarding. These require separate confirmation. Travelers who prefer a quieter afternoon can enjoy their accommodation and the nearby scenery. We spend the night at a hotel or riad in the Merzouga area. A second camp overnight can be discussed as an alternative.

Day 6: Merzouga – Alnif – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate

Leaving the Merzouga Region

After breakfast, we begin our return west toward Ouarzazate. By dividing the return over two days, we avoid combining this entire journey with the High Atlas crossing. We travel through Alnif and continue across landscapes of rocky hills, dry plains, and scattered settlements. Rest stops and lunch are planned around the day’s progress.

Traveling through the Draa Valley

As we approach the Draa Valley, palm groves and cultivated areas introduce another change in scenery. Where access and timing permit, we pause at a viewpoint to appreciate the contrast between the oasis landscape and surrounding dry terrain. We continue through mountain scenery toward Ouarzazate, arriving at our accommodation for the final overnight stay of the tour.

Day 7: Ouarzazate – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

Selected Sightseeing in Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we may include a prearranged visit in Ouarzazate, depending on your interests and departure requirements. Options can include a cinema studio or sightseeing around the Taourirt Kasbah area. We confirm access, admission costs, and the time required before adding a visit.

Return to Marrakech

We continue toward Marrakech across the High Atlas Mountains, with suitable breaks along the way. Arrival is planned for the afternoon or evening, depending on sightseeing, traffic, and road conditions. The tour ends at the agreed drop-off point. We recommend spending this final night in Marrakech before flying the following day. That additional night can be arranged separately. If you intend to fly on Day 7, the itinerary must be reviewed against your departure time before booking.
