Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat – Fes

Morning Departure from Casablanca

We begin our 7 days tour from Casablanca with a morning pickup from the agreed location. Arriving in Casablanca the previous day provides a more comfortable start. If your flight arrives on Day 1, we adapt sightseeing to the time needed for airport formalities and departure. Depending on the schedule, we may include a brief stop around the Hassan II Mosque, appreciating its oceanfront setting and exterior architecture from permitted areas. An interior visit requires coordination around visitor access and ticket arrangements. Including it may reduce the time available for Rabat.

Selected Sightseeing in Rabat

We continue to Rabat, where we focus on selected landmarks rather than a complete city tour. Possible stops include the Hassan Tower area, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of the Udayas, subject to access and timing. These visits introduce different aspects of the capital, from monumental architecture to historic lanes and coastal views. We allow time for walking and photographs before continuing inland.

Arrival in Fes

After a lunch break along the way, we travel to Fes and settle into our accommodation for a two-night stay. For riads inside pedestrian sections of the medina, we confirm the nearest accessible vehicle drop-off point and the remaining arrival arrangements. The evening remains free for relaxation before the following day’s guided visit.

Day 2: Guided Discovery of Fes

Exploring the Historic Medina

After breakfast, we arrange a guided introduction to Fes, focusing on its historic streets, traditional architecture, and craft districts. The walking route connects neighborhood markets, workshops, and selected landmarks. Our guide provides context for the places we visit and their role in the city’s daily life. The tour involves narrow lanes, uneven surfaces, and considerable walking. We adapt the pace and selected stops to your interests and mobility requirements.

Architecture and Traditional Crafts

Our itinerary may include a historic madrasa and streets associated with traditional trades, subject to opening arrangements. Throughout the visit, we appreciate carved wood, plaster decoration, tilework, and courtyard design. A tannery viewpoint may be included if desired, with purchases remaining optional. At religious buildings with restricted entry, we appreciate the permitted exterior views and surrounding streets.

A Flexible Afternoon

After the main guided visit, the remaining time can be used for relaxation or independent exploration. We spend our second night in Fes. Preparing a small overnight bag this evening makes the next day’s desert arrival easier.

Day 3: Fes – Middle Atlas – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Early Departure toward the Mountains

We leave Fes early and travel toward the Middle Atlas Mountains. This is one of the longest driving days of the tour. We keep sightseeing stops selective to allow enough time for the onward journey and the arranged desert experience. A brief stop in Ifrane may be included before continuing through mountain and woodland scenery.

Cedar Woodland and Midelt

Where access and timing permit, we stop near cedar woodland along the route. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. If animals are present, we observe them from a respectful distance without feeding or approaching them. We continue toward Midelt, with lunch planned according to our progress. Practical breaks provide opportunities to stretch before traveling farther south.

Views of the Ziz Valley

Traveling through the Errachidia region and Ziz Valley, we encounter palm groves and cultivated land beneath dry, rocky slopes. A viewpoint stop may be included where suitable. The contrast between the oasis landscape and its surroundings makes this a memorable section of the journey. We then continue through the Erfoud region toward Merzouga, where the dunes appear beyond the open plains.

Camel Excursion and Desert Camp Overnight

On arrival, we prepare for the arranged camel excursion near Merzouga and confirm luggage handling. The excursion offers a slower introduction to the Erg Chebbi dunes, with time to appreciate their curved ridgelines and changing shadows. When arrival time and conditions permit, we schedule it around late-afternoon light. Sunset timing cannot be guaranteed after the long drive. Travelers who prefer not to ride a camel can discuss an alternative vehicle transfer before booking. At camp, we settle into our tents and enjoy dinner. Some properties offer music in a communal gathering area, while clear skies may provide opportunities for stargazing.

Day 4: Explore Merzouga and the Surrounding Desert

Morning around the Dunes

Travelers who wish to rise early can enjoy the morning light around camp before breakfast. After the arranged departure from camp, we begin the local activities specified in your itinerary. This additional day gives us time to explore the Merzouga region beyond the overnight stay.

A Local 4×4 Excursion

A prearranged 4×4 excursion around Merzouga can introduce rocky plains, small settlements, and open desert landscapes surrounding Erg Chebbi. The wider region reveals a varied environment, with terrain that differs from the dunes themselves. We follow suitable local routes and stop at the places agreed in your program. We confirm the vehicle, duration, route, and included visits before departure. Weather, access, and ground conditions may require adjustments.

Discovering Khamlia

A visit to Khamlia may be included to discover the village’s musical traditions. Where a performance is arranged, we allow time to listen and appreciate its local context. We clarify whether the visit and any contribution are included or payable separately. Any visits involving local households take place only where hosts welcome guests. We respect residents’ privacy and ask permission before taking photographs.

Optional Activities or Relaxation

The afternoon can include free time or optional activities such as quad biking, buggy driving, or sandboarding. Motorized excursions require separate confirmation and generally involve an additional charge. Travelers who prefer a quieter afternoon can enjoy their accommodation and nearby views. We spend the night at a hotel or riad in the Merzouga area. A second camp overnight can be discussed as an alternative.

Day 5: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Journey toward Tinghir

After breakfast, we leave Merzouga and travel west toward Tinghir and the Todra Valley. The drive passes through open terrain and settlements, revealing landscapes beyond the dunes. We include a lunch break along the way. Approaching Tinghir, palm groves and cultivated areas contrast with the dry hills around them.

Walking in Todra Gorge

At Todra Gorge, steep rock walls rise above the valley floor. We stop for a short walk through an accessible section, allowing time to appreciate the cliffs and take photographs. This provides a welcome opportunity to stretch after the drive. The standard visit is sightseeing rather than an extended hike. Longer walking routes or climbing activities require additional time and separate arrangements.

Overnight in the Dades Valley Area

We continue toward the Dades Valley region, where we spend the night. Depending on arrival time and our accommodation’s location, a nearby viewpoint or short walk may be included before we settle in. Dinner is provided according to the selected package.

Day 6: Dades Valley – Aït Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

Traveling through the Southern Valleys

After breakfast, we leave the Dades region and travel through the landscapes around the Valley of Roses and Skoura. Villages, cultivated areas, and palm groves create a changing backdrop. The appearance of the Valley of Roses varies with the season; flowers are not in bloom throughout the year. We continue through Ouarzazate, keeping additional stops selective because the day also includes Aït Ben Haddou and the mountain crossing.

Exploring Aït Ben Haddou

At Aït Ben Haddou, we explore the fortified settlement and its traditional earthen architecture. Passages lead between houses, towers, and defensive walls. Higher sections offer views across the settlement and surrounding landscape. The visit involves uneven paths and steps. Comfortable shoes are useful, and a shorter walking route can be discussed if needed. Lunch is planned along the way, depending on the timing of our visit.

Crossing the High Atlas Mountains

We continue toward Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains, following the road via Tizi n’Tichka. Mountain valleys and hillside settlements provide the scenery for the final driving stage. We include suitable breaks when road conditions and time permit. We arrive in Marrakech in the evening and settle into our accommodation.

Day 7: Guided Exploration of Marrakech

Historic Monuments and Medina Streets

After breakfast, we arrange a guided introduction to Marrakech. The route may include Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrasa, or the Saadian Tombs, according to your interests and opening arrangements. We confirm the selected visits and admission costs beforehand. We also explore the surroundings of the Koutoubia Mosque, appreciating its exterior and its place in the city skyline.

Discovering the Souks

We continue through sections of the Marrakech souks, where shops and workshops display textiles, ceramics, leather goods, and metalwork. Shopping remains optional. We allow time to appreciate the craftsmanship and daily activity of the medina. Our route also introduces the surroundings of Jemaa el-Fnaa, whose atmosphere changes throughout the day.

End of the Tour

The tour finishes in Marrakech after the agreed sightseeing program. If you depart that day, we adapt the visit to your flight time and any confirmed airport transfer. An additional night can be arranged separately for a more relaxed departure.
